Blog: If I can change the world, then you can as well!

Joke (yes, that is a Dutch name!) is 17 years old and has been involved in HOPE XXL for two years now. Here is her blog about participating in HOPE XXL:

"If you were asked to participate in a project that can change the world, would you say yes? I did. And it is hard to say why. I am 17 years old and I live in a small village in the Netherlands. Who would ever believe that I could make a difference in the world? I do, and I believe that anyone in this world can make a change. And that if everyone had the same mindset, the hope that things can be better, we could achieve great things. I was said that HOPE XXL had a change of succes of 1 percent, but I joined. And more and more people are doing so. They are thinking with us about a new vision on sustainability, economics, war & peace and international cooperation. In the Netherlands we have spoken with many young people. Those meetings are very inspiring. One person told us that there is enough sunlight that, if we were to capture all of its energy, we could provide the earth with power for months. Then you wonder what we are thinking right now, polluting the earth as we are doing by using fossil fuels. It’s not a matter of possibility, it’s a matter of choosing the right thing to do.

In the meantime we are in touch with people from all over the world. They are also discussing the ideas of HOPE XXL and the kind of future they want. The chance of success is getting bigger and bigger.
If you read this, I would like you to ask to think about what you would like to change in the world. And then I’ll ask you to talk about it with other people and to start acting. Because you can, just like me, change the world."
