In May 2016 we welcomed a group of Bangladeshi youth to discuss our shared plans for a partnership between Bangladesh and The Netherlands. A great experience which will form the basis for our joint efforts!

The HOPE XXL Triple-A Summit took place in May 2014. Young people from Asia, Africa and the Americas together developed their vision on the future!
HOPE XXL visited Wageningen on Liberation Day in The Netherlands!
On March 21st 2014 we organized the Children's Summit for young school children to develop their vision on the future. Together the participants, aged 11 - 12, developed the list of things that need to be done!

On Monday March 10th HOPE XXL organized the Silent Dinner. In an atmospheric restaurant at the Central Station in Amsterdam we discussed the items in the Liemers List with more than 50 persons. It was a great mix of people: there were members of the Council of Recommendation and Council of Professors, as well of a number of our partners, young people who are active in HOPE XXL and high school students. The feedback to the items in the Liemers List will be used to develop the list even further. We thank all participants for joining us in Amsterdam!
In December a Peace Concert took place in the town of Duiven, the birthplace of HOPE XXL!

On November 5, 2013, former Defence Minister Joris Voorhoeve spoke with military officer Ron Rutten. They discussed the fall of Srebrenica, its aftermath and the role of the international community and The Netherlands. The meeting between Rutten and Voorhoeve was a unique event, as they were both involved in the events around the time. The meeting was part of the HOPE XXL Academy in Duiven, The Netherlands.
The HOPE XXL Peace Panorama took place from 18 - 21 September 2013 in The Hague, The Netherlands. Young people shared their vision of peace during this international event that started in the Peace Palace.
HOPE XXL took part in the Lions Convention in Hamburg, Germany. People from more than 150 countries met there!
On May 5th, 2013, HOPE XXL took part in the Liberation Day celebrations in the city of Wageningen.
Young bee masters received a bee hive from HOPE XXL to contribute to healthy bee populations in The Netherlands.

A national children's conference, held 22nd March 2013, whereby children got the chance to develop their ideas of the future. Pictures show the kids while posing for a speech!
Speak up for HOPE is a project whereby high school students deliver a speech.
From 6 - 8 December the European HOPE XXL Conference took place in Leiden and The Hague. Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, was a keynote speaker at the event. Young people from 25 European countries together developed their vision of the future.
HOPE XXL organized the Glass Vault in Ensched: a 24-hour marathon session with prominent Dutch leaders to develop a new vision of the future.
HOPE XXL organized the Glass Vault in Enschede. Our program started on Friday 21 December, but before that time some activities were already taking place inside!
On December 6 Kofi Annan spoke at the European HOPE XXL Conference in Leiden. We look back on an amazing and inspiring event!

On 29 October 2012 Vfonds, the National Fund for Freedom and Veteran Care, organized an educational conference. HOPE XXL provided two workshops, set up an experience corner and promoted the project with the green caravan.
In October 2012, Elke Olding gave a presentation to her class, the 8th grade of primary school, about HOPE XXL. Elke attended the high level conference at the Euromast and told her class about HOPE XXL.
HOPE XXL visited Appelpop, the largest free festival in the Netherlands. A beautiful day that rendered over 500 pictures!
On December 1st, HOPE XXL attended the Museum night 2012 at the Museon in The Hague.
In July, HOPE XXL supported participants at the longest four day walking event in the world.

On May 25th 2012 we held the HOPE XXL Children's Summit in Rotterdam's highest tower: the Euromast. Over 90 children aged 10-12 attended the summit and stated their vision on the future. They also signed their own declaration at a height of 185 meters!

This year it was 67 years ago that the Netherlands was liberated and World War II ended. We celebrated this in the city of Wageningen where peace was signed. Check out our photos of the Liberation festival!

Twenty students and HOPE XXL youth entered into a 24 hour marathon to discuss the Liemers List, in the greenhouse of the Leiden Botanic Gardens, in the same week as Serious Request. They discussed the list with the public and with prominent Dutch persons, some of whom are also on our Council of Recommendation.

This year HOPE XXL was part of the Peace Week. We organized the Peace Concert with musician Chris Hinze on October 9, 2011.

From 19-23 September the Peace Week was celebrated in Winterswijk, a town in the east of The Netherlands. High school students discussed items from the Liemers List in a debating competition.
HOPE XXL took part in the 'Bridge to the Future' conference in Arnhem, where we discussed the United Nations and their role in fostering peace worldwide.
HOPE XXL took part in the Debating Festival in Leiden. Participants discussed items from the Liemers List. We also organised a 'simultanuous debate' about the People's Partnership, our new proposal for development cooperation.
The 'Vlietland College' in Leiden organised a HOPE XXL event. Students discussed their views with a city executive ('wethouder').
Bert Koenders, former minister for Development Cooperation, formally launched HOPE XXL as a national project.
The first year of HOPE XXL was completed with a public HOPE XXL event. The Liemers List was publicly discussed for the first time. An important step in our journey thus far!
